The Liatris Violet, 'Laitris spicata', a spring planted tuberous root, produces lovely violet flowers on tall stems. The Liatris is also commonly known as Blazing Star or Gayfeathers and is a popular perennial because of its long lasting flowers. The Liatris also attracts butterflies. This plant is quite drought tolerant, and they will not tolerate soggy soils.
